The Automotive Safety Research Institute (ASRI) is an independent, nonprofit, applied engineering and physical sciences organization specializing in automobile crashworthiness research. The Institute uses multidisciplinary approaches to problem solving including computational models, component testing, and full-scale vehicle crash tests. The Institute performs research to support the safety needs of consumers, industry, and government.

Research is continuing on the subjects of Safety Improvements for Females, Vehicle Compatibility, and Lower Limb Injury Reduction

Research results are reported in the publications section of this website.

Publications include research by ASRI and by others on topics of special interest to ASRI.  Topics include: Far-side Protection, NCAP Improvements, Rollover Protection,  and Motor Vehicle Fire Safety.

In addition, Dr. Kennerly Digges, the ASRI President, has directed numerous projects for the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA); and some of these projects are reported on this website.  These projects include: Inflatable Belt Develpment (Airbelt),  Aortic Injury Protection, Measurement of Carotid Artery Injury Injury Risk Prediction (URGENCY Algorithm Development), Early Development of the THOR Advanced Frontal Test Dummy, Early Airbag Development, Development of Crash Victim Computer Simulation, and the Development of Experimental Cars (RSV's) with high levels of safety, low emissions and good fuel economy.

Extensive additional research on Motor Vehicle Fire Safety may be found on http://www.mvfri.org.
